In a cement pot by Prickly Point. In habitat, it receives rainfall primarily in summer and autumn, but in cultivation, it is highly opportunistic and can grow year-round if temperatures are mild.

Origin: Eastern Cape, South Africa. It is widely distributed near Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha), growing in coastal bush and dry, rocky flats, often in sandy or clay soils where its tuberous roots can develop underground.
