This is a classic summer-growing Rebutia that responds to the warm, rainy season of the Bolivian Andes. It requires a completely dry and cool winter dormancy to promote healthy growth and flowering in spring.

Origin: Southern Bolivia, specifically endemic to the Tarija Department. It is found in the high-altitude mountains of the Mendez Province, growing in rocky crevices and on grassy slopes in a relatively humid, mountainous environment at elevations between 2,200 and 2,800 meters.
