This species is a summer grower that thrives during the warm, rainy months. It is relatively cold-hardy if kept completely dry during its winter dormancy.
Origin
Northeastern Mexico and the southernmost tip of Texas, USA. It is widely distributed across the states of Coahuila, Nuevo León, and Tamaulipas, typically growing on rocky limestone slopes and gravelly hills in the Chihuahuan Desert scrub.
