Notes
This species grows primarily in response to summer rains. It thrives in high heat but is very sensitive to cold and excess moisture, requiring a strictly dry and warm dormancy in winter to prevent rot.
Origin
Southern Africa, specifically widespread in southern Angola and Namibia (especially the Damaraland and Kaokoland regions). It grows in arid, stony plains and rocky hillsides, often sheltered by shrubs or tucked between rocks in very hot, dry environments.
