It grows best during the milder, cooler months of spring and autumn, going semi-dormant during the peak heat of summer and the depths of winter.
Origin: The species originates from the Western Cape, South Africa. It is endemic to a very small area near the town of Georgida (northeast of Oudtshoorn) in the Little Karoo. It grows almost completely buried in quartz patches and rocky shale, under the shade of small karoo bushes.
