This species is most active during the warm summer months and rehydrates after seasonal rains. It should be kept relatively dry during its winter rest to prevent rot.
Origin
South Africa, Eastern Cape Province. It is widespread on rocky, limestone or shale hillsides in the Albany Thicket and succulent Karoo biomes, notably in the regions surrounding Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha) and Grahamstown (Makhanda).
