Notes
In its native habitat, it receives rainfall primarily during the hot summer months via thundershowers. It is an opportunistic grower that responds to moisture during the warm season but requires a completely dry rest period during the winter.
Origin
South Africa, Eastern Cape Province. It is a rare endemic of the Great Karroo, specifically found in a small area near Kendrew, south of Graaff-Reinet. It grows in stony, hilly terrain among shale fragments, often sheltered by low shrubs.
