In a cement pot from Prickly Point. Like other Copiapoa, it is highly opportunistic but relies on winter/spring fog for consistent moisture in habitat.

Origin: Northern Chile, endemic to the Antofagasta Region. It is found in the coastal hills and quebradas (canyons) north of Chañaral, specifically in the Sierra Esmeralda and surrounding areas. It grows in extremely arid, rocky, granitic soils, often buried deep in the ground with only the flat top exposed, relying heavily on coastal fog (camanchaca).
