In a cement pot by Prickly Point Like its relatives, it responds to moisture whenever it occurs, but in its native habitat, the consistent winter/spring fogs provide the primary window for rehydration and growth.
Origin: Northern Chile, Antofagasta Region. It is endemic to a very specific coastal area south of Taltal, specifically around the Quebrada de San Ramón and the hills of Cifuncho. It grows on extremely arid, rocky slopes and granite cliffs, heavily reliant on the coastal camanchaca fog.
