Origin: Northern Chile, specifically in the Atacama Region. It is endemic to the coastal hills and quebradas (canyons) north of Taltal, particularly in the vicinity of the San Ramon Valley and surrounding peaks like Cerro Perales. It grows in extremely arid conditions on rocky slopes, relying almost entirely on coastal fog.
