Notes
Like other Copiapoa, it relies heavily on the camanchaca fog which is most prevalent in winter and spring, but will grow opportunistically when moisture is available.
Origin
Northern Chile, endemic to the coastal desert of the Atacama Region. It is found specifically in the vicinity of Chañaral, growing in sandy soils and rocky crevices on coastal hills and flats, often burying itself flush with the ground to escape the heat.
