Copiapoa haseltoniana
Copiapoa haseltoniana
Acquired: about 2 months ago(3/5/2026)
In habitat, its primary growth window occurs during the cooler, fog-heavy months of winter and early spring. In cultivation, it is typically treated as a summer grower but remains opportunistic and should be kept strictly dry in winter.
Origin: Northern Chile, Antofagasta Region. This population is found on the extremely arid coastal plain and adjacent hills approximately 15–20 km north of Taltal, specifically in the region between Taltal and Paposo (including Caleta Colorado). It grows on rocky slopes and coastal terraces where it survives primarily on moisture from the camanchaca fog.
