7 time Inter-city winner genetics
In habitat, its primary rehydration period is during the peak camanchaca (fog) months of Winter and Spring. In cultivation, it is most active during the warm summer months but remains highly opportunistic.
Origin
Northern Chile, Antofagasta Region. This is the "type" locale for the species, found on the extremely arid coastal hills and steep rocky slopes immediately surrounding the town of Taltal (notably in the hills to the north and south of the bay). It grows in gravelly, mineral-rich soil and is famous for its heavy white glaucous bloom, which protects it from the intense sun.
