Origin: Northern Chile, specifically the Atacama Region. It is endemic to the coastal hills and plains of Pan de Azúcar National Park and the immediate vicinity around Caleta Pan de Azúcar and Isla Pan de Azúcar. It grows in very arid, rocky, granitic soils, heavily reliant on coastal fog (camanchaca).
