Growth occurs during the warm summer months and into the autumn monsoon season. It thrives in high heat and full sun but requires a strictly dry and frost-free dormancy during the winter.
Origin
Mexico, endemic to central and southern Baja California and several adjacent islands in the Gulf of California. It is found primarily on steep, rocky volcanic cliffs and canyon walls in the Sierra de la Giganta and near San Borja.
