Acquired: about 2 months ago

This cactus grows actively during the warm, rainy summer months. While it is quite hardy, it requires a dry and cool, but frost-free, dormancy during the winter to encourage flowering and prevent rot.

Origin: Bolivia, specifically in the Santa Cruz Department. It is endemic to the province of Florida, growing as a lithophyte (on rocks) on steep sandstone cliffs near the town of Samaipata. It hangs vertically from high rock faces in a semi-humid, mountainous environment.
