Avonia quinaria
Acquired: about 2 months ago(3/3/2026)
In habitat, it relies on infrequent winter rainfall and dew. In cultivation, it is highly opportunistic and can grow whenever moisture and warmth are available, provided it is not too hot.
Origin: Northern Cape Province, South Africa, and southern Namibia. It is widespread in the arid plains of Namaqualand and the Richtersveld, typically growing on quartz-strewn flats where its silver scales camouflage it among the stones.
