Notes
This species thrives during the summer rainy season and is capable of withstanding periodic flooding in its flat habitat. It enters a deep dormancy and pulls itself into the ground during the dry winter.
Origin
North-central Mexico, widely but sparsely distributed across the states of Coahuila, Nuevo León, San Luis Potosí, Tamaulipas, Zacatecas, and Querétaro. It is a geophytic species found on flat, silty alluvial plains and dry lake beds (playas) where it grows level with the ground surface.
