Notes
Growth primarily occurs during the warm, rainy summer months. In cultivation, it is sensitive to overwatering and requires a strictly dry, cool winter dormancy. It typically flowers in spring or early summer.
Origin
Mexico, specifically endemic to the state of Oaxaca. It is known from a single, extremely restricted location near the village of San José Lachiguiri. It grows on steep, dissected limestone slopes (notably on Cerro Cántaro) in a high-altitude semi-desert environment, roughly at elevations of 1,600 to 2,000 meters.
