Neochilenia jussieui - Purple Body - Eriosyce curvispina In its native habitat, it experiences a Mediterranean climate with rainfall primarily in the winter, but in cultivation, it is treated as a summer grower that responds opportunistically to warmth and water. It requires a strictly dry and cool dormancy during the winter months.

Origin: North-central Chile, Coquimbo Region. This specific population is found in the Elqui Valley, growing on dry, rocky slopes and stony hillsides approximately 20 km west of Vicuña. It inhabits the arid Mediterranean-type transition zone where it is exposed to high solar radiation and sporadic rainfall.
