This is a summer grower, thriving in the warm, rainy months. It is very frost tender and must be kept dry and warm during winter.
Origin
North-Central Mexico, widely distributed across the states of San Luis Potosí, Guanajuato, Hidalgo, Querétaro, and Oaxaca. It typically forms dense thickets in tropical deciduous forests or xerophytic scrub on rocky slopes and canyons.
