In a cement pot by Prickly Point
This species grows primarily during the warm, rainy summer months. It is notoriously slow-growing and sensitive to excess moisture, requiring a strictly dry, cool winter dormancy to prevent rot and encourage spring flowering.
Origin
Central Mexico, specifically endemic to the state of Aguascalientes (near the border of Jalisco). It is found on steep volcanic (rhyolitic) rock cliffs and slopes in oak-pine forest and semi-desert scrub, notably in the Sierra de Laurel.
