Notes
Like many South African succulents, this species is most active during the moderate temperatures of spring and autumn. While it can be opportunistic year-round if temperatures are stable, it often enters a semi-dormancy during the height of summer to conserve moisture and remains largely inactive during the coldest parts of winter. In cultivation, it responds best to "shifty" watering—increased frequency during the shoulder seasons and a lean approach during seasonal extremes.
Origin
South Africa. It is native to the Western Cape Province, specifically concentrated in the area around Riversdale. It grows on lower hills and flat, rocky ground, often tucked into the soil under the shade of bushes or nestled among limestone and shale rocks to protect its translucent leaf "windows" from intense sun.
