Acquired: about 2 months ago

This species is a winter-growing bulb that is summer-deciduous. It produces its distinctive haworthia-like leaves in the autumn and winter and sheds them to go dormant during the dry summer months, at which point it may produce a thin, wiry flower spike.

Origin: South Africa, specifically the Eastern Cape and parts of the Western Cape. It is found in the succulent Karoo and Albany Thicket biomes, typically growing in the shade of bushes or tucked into rocky crevices in shale or sandstone soils.
