This species is most active during the warm summer and early autumn months following monsoonal rains. It is highly drought-tolerant and enters a period of dormancy during the cooler, drier winter.
Origin
Mexico, endemic to the Baja California peninsula. It is widespread throughout both Baja California and Baja California Sur, as well as on several islands in the Gulf of California. It typically grows in coastal scrub and desert plains in sandy or rocky soils.
